  • How To Use Pinterest for Business – Nice little ebook from HubSpot on Pinterest, the latest visual social network phenomena, for business with some great examples of successful business curating 'pins' that promote the lifestyle and values of their brands. And interestingly, every one of these are small, local businesses.
  • Cookie compliance: Econsultancy analyses the latest ICO guidance – Update from Dec 2011 on EU Cookie regulations: it seems that analytics tracking is consent, but by May 2012, the ICO expects site owners to comply by seeking an opt-in from visitors before using cookies. This affects everything from personalisation, ad tracking to social media embedding and integration.

  • Netimperative | News | Today’s top stories – Infographic on who, how and where people are using QR codes. Interestingly, most people use them at home.
  • Mobile Commerce report – Taking quite an affiliate led view, this is non the less a useful report summarising the uptake in mobile devices and behaviours, the potential successes to be had from a smoother optimised site for mobile and some tactics for success in mobile commerce.
  • First Look At The New MySpace: It’s All About Music – Revealing new pitch by MySpace: emphasises the sustaining number of their audience (hard to believe) and commitment to promoting MySpace as the ‘go to’ music portal – though seems to be aimed at selling ad space to majors.

  • Google+ : Early access doesn’t mean early success | Econsultancy – Why you may want to think, look and plan before joining in the new ‘buzz’ over at Google+ (but do have a look – it’s exciting stuff), and see how it integrates with your digital strategy.
  • Want A Spotify Invite From Klout? The Magic Number Is…20 | paidContent:UK – Interesting partnership: as Spotify US hits the market, they’ve teamed up with Klout to allow early invitations to only those with a certain level of ‘social influence’. Perhaps a marketing gimmick, but interesting model for how exclusivity and rationalising services can be linked to influence.
  • Giving social media marketing a strategic purpose – Marrying the marketing aims with the social approach; Is your strategy about brand awareness, customer engagement or sales? It can only be one of them. Good advice.
